Rarely spend two hours just shooting the same building. But I always have liked this building. Walked by it and decided to really try and get some decent shots. I shot mostly with the 21mm Zeiss lens as it’s wide enough to do the whole thing. But I also put the old (1948ish) Canon 85mm lens on for details of some of the interesting angles. Hard to pick between several different takes from the same spot, but I weeded it down to twenty shots and only a couple are really from close to the same angle. The big trick to this building is it’s really surrounded by others so getting it to really be the star of the shots takes real work. I hope I was relatively successful. The set is POSTED HERE.

21 on the Table
Really small set in Warbux after a photo outing to shoot the Rainier Tower. I just have the camera sitting on my table and kept snapping to see what it caught. A few were fun. POSTED HERE.

How Close Will They Let Me Get?
Post title refers mostly to my attempts to move in as close as possible to some seagulls I was shooting a couple of times. The walk home tonight got me construction, horse and carriage (twice), clouds, a fairly interesting sign, and some interesting graffiti, and of course, the aforementioned seagulls. The set is POSTED HERE.

Parking Lot – Lens Weirdness
Just three shots today taken in the parking lot South of where I work and where there is a new building going up. Used the 1936 28mm Leitz Hektor f/6.3 and in most of the shots, one in particular, you can see how it is sharp in the center, then there is a ring of defocus and then, out beyond that toward the edges, extreme sharpness again. Anyone with a serious idea of an explanation, please let me know. What makes it really weird is it doesn’t always do it. Seems most common when focused at or near infinity, but even that is not 100% true. POSTED HERE.

Guns Drugs and Sex
Walking home I got the camera out to shoot an old brick building with an old painted sign in homage to a nice shot by a friend and coworker. Then I decided to do a few more of those. And then I spotted some nice clouds. So I ended up shooting all the way home. These are all with the Zeiss 35mm Biogon f/2 lens at f/8 and f/11 except a couple in Post alley at f/2.8. I am please to get as good as I did as I forced myself to do this all with no chimping. And some were pretty tricky exposure situation. Some ended up fairly noisy as I raised the exposure as they were underexposed. However, with the kind of window glare I was shooting, it was that or vast tracts of blown out highlights. As the monochrom handles pushing shadows as well as it does, I felt the underexposure was an acceptable risk. Only a few of the shots were under enough to cause levels needing noise reduction, but there was one where it was enough to create some banding in the shadow ares that was beyond correction. Anyway, if you are one of my photo phreak friends they may be interesting for this, and for the amazing sharpness of this lens and the Monochrom combination. For the rest of you, there are some nice fluffy clouds, too. Oh, and the reason for the name of the post is in there, too. The set is POSTED HERE.

Cousins Playing
Second batch is Saturday evening and early Sunday morning shots of the grandkids playing together. All these are black and white and mostly in the dark, but they came out OK so it’s a fun set. It’s nice to see how much Sophie likes having her little cousin there, and how Ellie seems enamored of a “big kid” to play with. POSTED HERE.
