Rob’s folks have stopped through for a visit and we made a quick stop by Angela and Rob’s house to see them and, of course, Eli. The baby slept through the whole thing, and considering the way we talk, that might indicate a coma. Hopefully she will not sleep the whole day and then keep poor Angela awake all night. But at least she was in a swing where we could see her face. Keep in mind that low light, slow shutters, and a moving swing aren’t ideal, but I did get a couple of her that are OK. We met Angela, Rob, Hugh, and baby girl Elizabeth at All Purpose Pizza for dinner tonight, and I brung the Leica. Eli is to little to be annoyed but I probably drove everyone else a bit nuts. Many of these are redundant, so those who tire of babies easily might as well stay away.

Took Rita’s NEX-7 to work to share with a co-worker today. Failed to connect with him before the day was done, but decided to use the opportunity to play a bit. My first thought was to try out the old 1958 35mm f/2.8 Leica lens, and for subject matter, I thought I could get a decent picture of the statue of Anubis (Egyptian god of embalming, but as they were in ancient Egypt, that means god of mummies). The 35mm translate to approximately 52.5mm on the NEX, so I was back in my “lens is too long for my vision” mode. One of my shots is a partial of the statue, and it’s full frame, the other is a pan from several frames. It came out really nicely. Then I shot a few more walking home, and a couple more pans. And the last two are with my 28mm f/2.8 (the new lens) on our deck (which is a floor off the ground, on top of the store). It is OK on here, but nothing like on full frame. Just eight shots, but a pretty decent lot. POSTED HERE.

Back to editing some of the pics from the Kansas/Minnesota trip. Tonight’s installment is a twofer. Actually, the first part is an addendum to the earlier batch I actually posted while in Minnesota. I will be working on the family pictures from the farm get together this weekend, but when peeking at them I remembered that I didn’t have my newest version of Photoshop loaded on the Macbook, so after assembling my panorama of the old barn and silo, I didn’t try to “patch” the blank areas in the sky. So, thanks to “content aware fill” I have added the final edit of that shot to that gallery. The gallery is POSTED HERE, and the shot below if the final version of the shot in question. By the way, this was a pan stitched from about 6 different shots, that weren’t actually lined up as a panorama to start, just cobbled together with the software. Who needs a wide angle lens?

The other set is a small batch of a really pretty farm near the casino Marge and Augie like to go to an hour or so drive from their place. I went shooting while they played slots.
