Ta Dah!!!

Category: Family & Friends,Leica Monkeys,TravelRandall Kelley @ 19:04

My friend Adam took this of me in New Orleans on our walk through Bourbon Street. I had no idea the horse was coming up behind me, but it sure looks like I was doing a spokes-model intro. Thanks to Adam for lending me the full size file to do my own edit on. I thought I’d want to go black and white, but it lost too much, so I went low saturation instead.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

Category: Family & Friends,Photography,TravelRandall Kelley @ 20:22

This afternoon Rita took Isabella (Adam and Brenda’s oldest daughter) and Josie (their youngest) to watch the parade. I have uploaded a set of pictures she took on her iPhone. She was just shooting on the phone as she did not want to get too involved in the photography process when she was entrusted with watching the girls. The results are pretty good, and it looks like the girls were having a lot of fun. The set is POSTED HERE.

Rita’s shots from this morning are up now (though I stole her camera for one shot of the restaurant mural where we had lunch). It’s mostly from the Garden District. Set POSTED HERE.

New Orleans Film

Unfortunately, Walgreens quickie development guys messed up some of the negatives. I guess that’s what you get for getting impatient. These are their low (real low) resolution scans. This is from a roll of Ilford XP2 Super and the weird hue is from the film itself not added (just not totally removed from here, though that is possible. Set is POSTED HERE.

Nawahwlens?

Category: Family & Friends,Leica Monkeys,TravelRandall Kelley @ 20:30

So just how do you pronounce New Orleans? I say, who cares, I just want to see it. We just arrived here this afternoon after a pretty long drive from the burbs of Atlanta with our friends Adam and Brenda Mayse and their three kids. A relatively good drive after a one day visit at their home (after we flew into Atlanta’s airport on Sunday).

I have to say, so far so good. My feet are not happy and are probably not going to relent and give me a pain free day, but sometimes what you get to experience is worth a little pain. We will be here through Thanksgiving and into the early weekend before we have to divert back to Atlanta. We hope to get a fair amount of photography in, but with Rita’s recuperating hand and my bad feet, it might not be a large amount of stuff. On top of our limitations, I am going to shoot mostly film this trip, so the quantity may be small.

That does not mean we will shoot no digital or that there won’t be stuff posted here. I will try to get some stuff up. I am starting with a small batch of mixed black and white and color. And as the battery died just as Rita was ready to start this afternoon, this is pretty much all mine.

Most are from our friend’s house, but there are a few from this afternoon after we checked into the hotel here. We hope we have something you enjoy here, and that we have more as the week goes on. The set from the start of this trip is POSTED HERE.

A batch of Ektar I just got back. Low resolution scans from Moon Photo. The first of these goes back to a ferry trip to Salty’s in West Seattle, then some from over a two week period, ending last weekend in Everett. The set is POSTED HERE.

1950 Leitz 50mm f/2 Summitar on the Monochrom

Category: Daily Drivel,Leica MonkeysRandall Kelley @ 20:29

I got the old screw mount lens with the new old film camera, but ran a few shots through it today to see what it would look like on the Monochrom (Their spelling). I had shot a few last weekend on the MM and Rita’s M 240, but I had inadvertently put it on with the wrong adapter and so couldn’t be sure what missed focus was the lens and what was the bad adapter. Apparently it was all adapter, as I hit the spot I aimed for just fine today with the good adapter. This is just a small set from the testing today. By the way, the one on the Link light rail in the tunnel is at 2500 ISO, field focused, and shot from my lap… just to see if I could (and the lens could) do it. The set is POSTED HERE.
